Many things can hinder our ability to pray. One of the most powerful barriers is an unforgiving heart. When we hold onto anger, resentment, or the refusal to forgive, it creates spiritual resistance. It clouds our thoughts, hardens our hearts, and distances us from the peace that prayer is meant to bring.

"The forgiven heart will forgive others." This isn’t just a spiritual principle; it’s a posture of healing. When we truly grasp the grace we've received, it softens our grip on bitterness. But when forgiveness is withheld, it often manifests in negative thoughts, strained relationships, and behaviors that reflect inner unrest.

Prayer thrives in a heart that’s open, humble, and willing to release what no longer serves. Forgiveness isn’t easy, but it clears the path for deeper connection with God, with others, and with ourselves.

The past two weeks have been about identity. Who are we? First responders often take on the identity of their job. When they are introduced, they are often introduced as "the cop" or "the firefighter" rather than who they are as an individual. This verse sums it up. We are created in the image of God, and we know that God is love, forgiving, patient, merciful, and full of grace.

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

Whatever is going on in your life, whether that be a long week at work, crazy work hours, sleepless nights, or even relationship troubles, know that you can go to the Lord and He will give you rest. Jesus calls on everyone to go to him as He is our saviour. When we lean on the Lord we receive clarity, purpose, and rest.

No matter where you are in life, take time to pause and know that God made this day. God made it perfect in all his ways, and each day he extends grace and mercy so that one day we will be with Him for eternity. God made the air we breathe so let’s take a moment today to rejoice in Him and extend grace and mercy to others. REJOICE!

Let your light shine so bright that others see the grace and goodness of God shining through. Be the light that brings others out of the darkness and give all glory to God!

While we may often feel the weight of our sin, we are reminded to find joy in the Lord, for He is always at work. He is our source of joy, and we draw strength from Him, even when we feel undeserving because He is a loving and forgiving God.

We can find peace through Jesus Christ. In times of trials and tribulation, call on the Lord and receive His peace. Jesus overcame the world, and that victory is a gift to those who accept Him, for He is the true foundation of peace.
